The time has finally come: you are getting married! Great. Now you finally get to pick out your dream dress, but where do you start your search? And how do you make sure it won’t be a disappointment? Who do you bring and how do you choose the perfect dress? I will take you on your search and guide you to your perfect dream dress. Come along!
Step 1: choose your favorite bridal store
To protect yourself, I recommend making an appointment only at your favorite store. Look on the internet which stores are there, what dresses do they have, what prices do they charge. How much alteration fee can you expect or is that included in the price (like with us). How much time will you get during the first appointment? Will you be contacted in advance? In other words: which store suits you and your expectations. Only at that favorite store will you make an appointment.
So, don’t schedule 4 appointments at 4 stores. Why not. If you find your perfect dress at the first store, you can’t decide when you have other appointments scheduled. And the worst thing is: at the other appointments, all you can think about is that 1st dress that was totally it. So, don’t do that to yourself. Make one appointment, go there uninhibited and see if you find your dream dress. How nice it is to just succeed in one go! Not successful? Then schedule your next appointment at store #2 on your list.
2. How do I prepare for my fitting appointment to pick out the wedding dress?
You go to the store with your main fans (mother, mother-in-law, sister, friend, etc.). I always recommend taking 2 or 3 people with you. That’s enough to support you and at the same time then there won’t be too many opinions. After all, you are the bride and you have to make the choice yourself. Your guests should support you, but not choose for you of course! At my store you don’t need anything else for your appointment, because we have everything (lingerie, shoes) in the store. If you still want to prepare a bit: put on skin-colored, smooth underwear. That works best under the ivory white dresses. Do you already have jewelry or shoes you insist on wearing with your dress? Then bring those with you, of course.
Once you have arrived in the store, we always take a moment to chat and have a drink. I can then get to know you a little better and you can indicate what you are looking for. If you have already tried on dresses, you can tell me what you liked and what you disliked. If you haven’t tried on yet, you usually don’t know exactly what you want, but maybe you already have an idea? Sometimes you already know what you don’t like. That is also a good start. Also, quietly collect pictures of dresses you do like. That will give me a good idea of what you like and we can start with that.
3. An open mind for the right style wedding dress
We start with the dresses that fit the dresses you thought of beforehand. Sometimes we are in the right direction, but sometimes not. Then we see what’s wrong and what you could try on. In this way we slowly get more and more in the direction of your perfect dress.
Why have an open mind? If you fixate on one kind of dress beforehand, you run the risk of being disappointed. Because what do you do if those dresses just don’t look nice or you don’t feel comfortable in them? Then you have to deal with that disappointment first…. Sometimes I advise brides in such a situation to come back a week later. Just reset and then go back to trying on. If you take into account in advance that it might look different than you expect, then you can switch more easily and thus succeed more easily. Also read the different stories of the brides below.

Janique had absolutely no idea what kind of wedding dress she wanted. She didn’t have a list of ideal dresses. She only knew she didn’t want a very big dress and not too much glitter and frills. Trying on a few different styles, she ended up with dresses with a delicate lace top and a supple skirt. When she finally tried on this dress, she knew immediately: this was her dream dress! One more thing…
An initial appointment at Pippi Bridal Fashion takes a maximum of 2.5 hours. That is usually more than enough to find your dream dress. Sometimes brides are ready faster and occasionally we schedule a follow-up appointment if the bride needs some extra time. So we can do that, too.
If you can’t choose between 2 dresses that you both like equally, I will let you try on those dresses one after the other. If necessary 2 or 3 times! Just until you feel which dress it should be. And believe me, that moment always comes.
Doubt? When in doubt, don’t do it! Sounds simple and it is. If you have found your dream dress, you really know it. Even without tears, you can feel very well which dress has everything you are looking for to make you feel beautiful, strong and above all, completely yourself. The most beautiful version of yourself, of course!
